Shillong, Meghalaya · Est. for the hills
Rent a scooty or bike for the day, or let one of our local guides take you to the waterfalls, root bridges and lakes outsiders never find on their own.
Who we are
We're based in the heart of Shillong and we grew up on these roads — the ones that fold through pine forest, drop into limestone valleys and disappear into cloud past Sohra. Cloud Trail started as three scooties parked outside a tea stall. Today we run a full fleet, and half our guides are the same friends who used to just come along for the ride.
Rent solo and go where you like, or book a guide who knows which viewpoint clears up by 9am and which shortcut avoids the Police Bazar traffic. Either way, the bike is clean, the tank is full, and we're a phone call away if the weather turns.
Good to know before you ride
Meghalaya's roads climb, drop and get slick fast when the mist rolls in. We brief every rider on route conditions, gear you up with a helmet and rain cover, and flag which roads to skip after dark. Carry a valid photo ID and driving licence — some routes near the border also need an Inner Line Permit, which we can help you sort.
The fleet
Every vehicle is serviced between rentals, comes with two helmets, and a full tank so you're not hunting for a pump on your first morning out.
Our most-requested scooty — light, sporty, and easy to park around Police Bazar. We keep three of these in the fleet, so it's usually your best bet for same-day pickup.
Sharper LED lighting and a bit more presence on the road than most 125s in this range — a good pick if you want your scooty to look as sporty as it rides.
The most comfortable ride in the fleet — a wide seat, roomy floorboard, and softer suspension that smooths out Shillong's rougher patches.
The quickest scooty off the line in our fleet — riders reach for this one when they want a bit more pep weaving through town.
Our only geared bike — a nimble retro roadster with enough presence for the long hill roads, but easier to handle than a full cruiser. Valid two-wheeler licence and deposit required at pickup.
Take the Hunter 350 with a local rider alongside you on their own vehicle — for routes, stories, and knowing exactly where to stop.
Guided tours
Distances measured from our Shillong pickup point. Full-day tours include your guide's bike, route planning and stops timed around the light and the weather.
A half-day loop for your first afternoon — waterfalls, the city viewpoint, back before dark.
Early start, quiet water, breakfast by the lake before the crowds arrive.
Living root bridges, Nohkalikai Falls, and the viewpoints that made this road famous.
Less-touristed than Sohra, same drama — caves, waterfalls, and a much quieter road.
The long ride south to the Bangladesh border — boat on the river, back by evening.
Two days — the cleanest village in Asia, the skywalk, and a homestay night in between.
